One of the main objectives for the KU Transportation Research Institute is to increase awareness about the importance of transportation. Currently, KU has a number of faculty that are experts in many different areas of transportation, but KU TRI sees a need to graduate more qualified students to meet the growing needs of the transportation industry. Thus, the Institute is working with KU to increase the number of transportation classes being offered on campus to undergraduate and graduate students. This has required KU TRI to help in the recruitment of new faculty as well as purchasing new laboratory equipment to promote the teaching of transportation. The Institute has also been active in helping to establish new student groups that educate and encourage student involvement on various transportation issues.
