Mr. John Powell will present a seminar titled Chattanooga electric bus experiment on Wednesday, September 6th at 3 pm in the Spahr engineering classroom, 2 Eaton Hall.
John W. Powell is the Executive Director of the Advanced Transportation Technology Institute (ATTI) in Chattanooga, Tennessee. ATTI is a non-profit institute dedicated to increasing the use of electric and hybrid-electric buses through research, communication and demonstrations.
Among other achievements, Mr. Powell managed the largest operation of electric vehicles ever assembled during the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996. During a 33-day event, over 3.5 million passenger trips occurred on electric vehicles.
Previously, Mr. Powell, as an employee of Ryder/ATE Management, was General Manager of the Worcester Area Transportation Company and the Worcester Van Express in Worcester, Massachusetts. His 32 years of public transportation experience also include stops in Cincinnati, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; Detroit, Michigan; and Norwich, Connecticut.
Mr. Powell has a B.S. degree in Marketing from the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
